The Aerie Mountain Hideaway

Whether for romantic seclusion, or a back to nature vacation, you will love this quaint cabin in the woods overlooking a wooded mountain drop just off the back patio.

The Mountain Hideaway has a 15 x 10 foot glass walled bathroom with Jacuzzi. You can step directly out of the Jacuzzi through sliding glass doors into a private garden. Sleeping four, the two-bedroom, air conditioned, rustic cabin has a fireplace (we supply wood), completely furnished kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, blender and toaster.

Relax on this private patio with views of The Blue Ridge Mountains and listen to the stream that flows below.

The living room and master bedroom are glass-walled toward the Massanutten and Blue Ridge Mountains.

There is very limited TV (mountain reception only gives the local ABC affiliate), DVD and VCR (bring tapes/DVDs or rent some in town); radio/CD player. The cabin has electric heat. Linens are available and a pet is welcome for a small additional fee.

Located off a small access lane above the George Washington National Forest, the cabin is about a .5 mile hike to the south fork of the Shenandoah River, about .7 mile from The Country Place Camp. A short hike takes you through the George Washington National Forest to the seven-acre bass lower lake, a bass, blue gill and catfish stocked fishing pond / bird sanctuary. Imagine floating in the silence watching the sunrise or set in your canoe or kayak.
We offer a partnership package with the Luray Caverns. We have private trails leading to logging trails in the National Forest for riding and hiking. With rental, come special discounts for massage therapy. Our guests may arrange to use our private riverfront and canoe for free when not booked by the camp (Memorial Day through mid-September is the camp season). There is public river access in the National Forest within a half mile. The cabin is available year-round.

The Mountain Hideaway is available year-round and is one of The Country Place Cabins. See the Misty River Retreat (3 bedrooms), the Mountain Log Cabin (2 bedrooms), Captain's Lodge on the Rapids (3 to 6 bedrooms, game room on 15 acres on the river), and The Country Place Camp.

For our guests, we provide a free canoe and the use of our private
riverfront when available. We allow a pet for a small additional charge.
