Set sixty feet high on a hill overlooking a beautiful meadow on the Shenandoah River on nearly 15 acres, the Captain's Rapids Lodge offers perfect serenity and privacy for two to twenty people. The Lodge has hosted honeymoons as well as weddings. A two-minute or so walk down to the riverfront, where canoes and tubes will be provided in season, you can picnic on the river's edge, fish just above the rapids, and enjoy the constant roar of the series of rapids.

You can rent just the upstairs with the game room for up to 10 people. Upstairs, the three bedrooms have two queen size and one double bed. One bathroom off the master bedroom has a large shower; the other offers a private entrance into the second bedroom as well as the hall. The living room has a wood burning fireplace, with a glass walled view to the river and the forest and a futon couch for sleeping.

If your group is larger, you can also have use of the first level for additional (and optional) rental: three bedrooms, a living room with wood burning fireplace and direct access to patio, a full bath, washer and dryer.

Note that the Lodge will not be rented to more than one group at a time. Camping is available on the river front or in the woods for the group that rents.

The great room (about 25 by 35 feet) is all glass walled looking to the river. With a open gas fireplace, it has lots of seating for reading, a trestle table for dinner or games (board games provided), and electric hookups under the table for computer, a television with 60 channels, a VCR, and DVD player. It has a queen size futon bed/couch as well.

This stunning view from the deck shows the beautiful rapids that stretch all the way across the Shendandoah River right in the back yard of Captain's Rapids Lodge. An easy walk to the riverside, this area should be prime for wade fishing.

With a glass wall (not shown in photo) facing the rapids and direct access to the patio, the Lodge game room is below the Great Room and has regulation size table tennis, pool table, darts, table for cards, exercise equipment, and a 4+ person Jacuzzi with sliding glass doors to the hillside over the river rapids.

The kitchen includes refrigerator, electric range, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, blender, coffee maker, toaster, and everything we can think of to make your stay memorable. In season, the Lodge has a canoe and two adult beach cruiser style bicycles available for guests at no charge. Additional canoes and bicycles can be rented for reasonable rates.

We provide linens and towels upon request. This is a smoke free lodge where we invite guests to enjoy smoking on the decks. This is the only Country Place property where we do not allow pets.

The furnishings include original artwork for sale upon request from our guests.

Fees based on number of people. Two-night minimum stay requested; three days
holiday weekends; four days Thanksgiving. We also
offer off-season midweek three nights for two-night rates (Sundays through
Thursday nights, holidays excepted).

Special rates for special events, depending upon specifics. The Captain’s
Rapids Lodge is an ideal site for weddings, corporate retreats, family
reunions, and other groups.
